Prezentacija PhD programa (preuzmite dokument u dnu stranice)

University of Banja Luka was founded in 1975 and its Faculty of Medicine in 1978. The University Banja Luka Faculty of Medicine PhD programme is a young one; it was licensed in 2014 and started effectively in April 2015. It is a three-year programme worthy 180 ECTS.

The PhD programme is a multidisciplinary one and is aimed at educating and training of postgraduate students to become independent in organising, planning and executing biomedical scientific projects and in publishing the obtained results in prestigious peer-reviewed journals. After defending their PhD theses, our candidates will be awarded PhD titles in their respective scientific fields.

Our candidates must meet the following requirements: accomplished integrated training in Medicine, Dentistry or Pharmacy worthy of 360 ECTS (six years of integrated curriculum) or accomplished training in Health Sciences worthy of 300 ECTS (four years of Bachellor’s degree and one year of Master’s degree programme) and average mark of 8 out of 10. Rank on the lists of candidates is determined according to several criteria (average mark, publications, personal motivation). The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Srpska determines each year the maximum number of candidates to be admitted. Over the previous two years this number was 35.

The PhD programme has its Director and Secretariat. The programme offers during the first two years a total of 360 hours of theoretical teaching, while the third year is reserved for work on the PhD thesis. Most of the speakers are renowned scientists, from the country and from abroad.

The curriculum is composed in such a way, that all the students during the first three semesters become exposed to the fundamental biomedical knowledge and skills, but also to modern trends in experimental and clinical medicine and public health alike. In the fourth semester they become more focused on their future dissertation and become skilled enough to write their PhD thesis proposal. Strong focus is on methodological subjects, in order to make the candidates capable of conducting an independent research project.

Special attention is paid to the process of selection of an appropriate supervisor to each of the candidates.

The detailed organisation of these studies is as follows.
