Faculty of Medicine, University of Banja Luka Has Been Awarded International Accreditation

On March 2, 2026, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Banja Luka officially received international accreditation for its study programme in Medicine, in accordance with the standards of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).

The accreditation was awarded by the Hungarian Accreditation Committee (MAB) for a period of six years.

This accreditation represents a significant step forward in the further internationalisation of the Faculty of Medicine and the University of Banja Luka, strengthening its position within the European and global higher education area, and providing additional confirmation of the quality of the degree and the competencies of its medical graduates.

At the end of 2024, the Faculty submitted an application to initiate the procedure, and during 2025 an extensive and demanding self-evaluation process was carried out.

In November 2025, an international review panel visited the Faculty of Medicine. The visit included meetings with the management, academic and administrative staff, students, and representatives of healthcare institutions, as well as an inspection of the teaching infrastructure, clinical training sites, laboratories, and other supporting resources.

In addition to confirming compliance with WFME standards, the decision also included specific recommendations for further improvement of the quality of the study program, providing an additional incentive for continuous development and strengthening of the quality assurance system across all segments of the Faculty’s work.
