Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina – On 27 June 2025. the International Scientific Conference “Current Issues in The Implementation of One Health Concept” was held at the Faculty of Law of the University of Banja Luka organized by the Law and Literature Club.
The Conference comprised of presentations and discussions of professors, health professionals and students, as well as a Young Researchers’ Session.
Held on June 26, the conference brought together experts and students from multiple disciplines to promote the One Health approach — an integrated framework that recognizes the interdependence of human, animal, and environmental health. Participants engaged in thoughtful discussions around pressing global issues including zoonotic diseases, environmental degradation, and health policy.
However, the event extended well beyond the academic. In a vibrant display of cultural unity, Indian students currently studying in Banja Luka organized a captivating cultural program “Across Cultures: India at UNIBL” that followed the main conference. The audience was treated to traditional Indian dance performances, showcasing classical and contemporary styles, and a food-sharing session that introduced attendees to a variety of authentic Indian dishes prepared by the students themselves.
The aromas of spices and the rhythm of music created a warm and festive atmosphere, turning the event into more than a conference — it became a celebration of shared humanity and diversity. Attendees from Bosnia and Herzegovina and beyond had the chance to experience Indian hospitality firsthand, building friendships and cultural understanding alongside professional networks.
This event was a reminder that health is not just about medicine and science, but also about people — about how they live, how they share, and how they connect across cultures.
The One Health Conference in Banja Luka and Across Cultures: India at UNIBL stands as a successful example of cross-cultural and interdisciplinary collaboration, setting a hopeful precedent for future.
