Opening an account with a local bank

The documentation required to open an account with one of the local banks may vary, but some of the documents most banks require are:

  1. Signed request for opening an account (available at the banks),
  2. Confirmation of residence registration in Bosnia and Herzegovina (white card),
  3. Passport (personal data page) attested at the City Administration or Municipality with a translation into one of the official languages in Bosnia and Herzegovina from a certified court interpreter
  4. Tax Identification Number (JIB) for individuals from the Tax Administration of the Republic of Srpska.

In order to obtain a JIB, foreign students are required to register with the Tax Administration of the Republic of Srpska. Documents required for registration are:

  • Completed PR-3 form. Instructions for completing the form are available here.
  • Certified photocopy of residence registration (white card),
  • Certified passport (personal data page).

The JIB numbers are valid for a certain time and need to be extended after their expiry.

The International Students Office and the agencies help the students attain the JIB number, so these required documents should be obtained and brought to the Student Office or agency.

Accommodation

Most international students enroll at the Faculty with the support of a partner agency, which assists its students with accommodation and other essential arrangements.

Since the university does not provide student housing for international students at the moment, it is highly recommended that students secure rental accommodation in advance of their arrival, especially if they are not working with an agency in Bosnia.

In such cases, students may need to independently explore rental options online or contact local real estate agents upon arrival. While the Faculty does not endorse or recommend any specific agent, it acknowledges that — based on the performance and reliability of the official recruitment partner — even independent students might find it helpful to connect with the agency for on-ground assistance with housing and other logistics.
